Cocke County investigators and family members of Megan Maxwell held a news conference this afternoon to confirm that human remains found Thursday off Ponderosa Road, between Newport and Del Rio, have been positively identified as the 19 year-old who has been missing for 19 months.
Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes made the announcement saying his Detective Division led by Detective Derrick Woods, along with agents of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and University of Tennessee anthropologists, "processed the scene, recovered the remains and identified them this morning."
