The Humane Society, founded in 1985, has provided an animal shelter for Cumberland County, TN for 25 years. It has also recently operated a Spay / Neuter Clinic for the public and for several years has operated a Thrift Shop as a primary source of funds
We have been able to help about 500 dogs and cats per year
All operations have now been suspended

In the Spring of 2010, it became apparent that there were significant financial problems caused by many factors, culminating with the cessation of funding by the City of Crossville.
The Spay / Neuter Clinic closed for lack of funding in June, 2010.
The Shelter closed for lack of funding on November 7, 2010. All cats and all but 5 dogs were adopted; the remaining dogs were transported to a no-kill shelter in Memphis, TN.
The PAWS thrift shop was closed by order of Cumberland County Bank on November 17, 2010.
There currently are no animals under our care and no funds to continue substantial community support for animal welfare
