On August 24, Clarksville Christian School held a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of phase I of the new Clarksville Christian School campus.
Prior to the ceremony, Lisa Tucker, Head of School, introduced the Board of Directors, faculty and staff, and a prayer of Thanksgiving was given by Steve Kirby. Immediately following the ribbon-cutting, students and their families were able to tour their children's classrooms and visit with their teachers. Clarksville Christian School is thankful for the support of the parents as well as the surrounding community in helping to make this dream a reality.
If you have driven by the CCS campus lately, you will notice a beautiful new building sitting at 505 Hwy. 76. While we are thankful to the Hilldale Church of Christ for allowing their building to be used as an "incubator" facility for the first three years of operation, we are even more excited to have a facility to call our own!
The walls are painted, the flooring is being installed, the state-of-the-art geothermal HVAC system is completed, and sidewalks have been poured. Exterior finishing touches on the building will continue through the month of August.
Lord willing, on August 4th, CCS will be granted a certificate of occupancy by the fire marshal, and on August 6th, the excitement of little voices and feet exploring their new classrooms will be heard. This building will house office space, a library, classrooms for Kindergarten through fifth grade, a teacher workroom, and several unfinished classrooms for expansion as needed. Middle school and 9th grade will remain in our four learning cottages until the lease on these buildings is completed. Come visit us and see what great things God has done!
A story about CCS was the featured article in the July issue of Clarksville Family magazine. This excellent story focuses on the mission of CCS and how we are meeting the needs of families in our community.
Did you catch us at Rivers and Spires this year? On Friday night and Saturday, CCS had a booth in the Kidz Zone, and we were able to meet some great people and give approximately 500 children the opportunity to create a visor while talking with their parents. On Saturday, about 100 CCS faculty, students, and families participated in the Childrens parade. Our famed Centurion mascot even made an appearance! A great time was had by all and dont forget to look for us next year!
CCS is excited to expand the number of special area teachers for 2010-11. Mrs. Travis will continue teaching Art and P.E., and Mrs. Norris (5th) is moving to Music and Spanish. As our enrollment grows over the next few years, we anticipate hiring additional special area teachers so each can focus on one area of expertise. We are thankful for the multi-talented faculty the Lord has provided us!
The Clarksville Christian School Board of Directors is proud to announce that more than $1,006,000 has now been pledged towards the school's "SECURING THE FUTURE" capital building campaign, exceeding our challenge goal of $950,000. Please continue to pray for these efforts as preparations are being made to begin construction on the new facility in the next few weeks. If you would like to learn more about the "Securing the Future" campaign, please contact the school office at 647-8180; and we can send you a video and brochure. Also, look for information coming soon about early enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year.
Have you seen the new promotional video for CCS? This production gives a glimpse into the various aspects and activities of CCS. You will see the children learning and growing by participating in various classroom and intracurricular activities. You will also be introduced to the administration and faculty. Information regarding curriculum, Bible classes, and the school environment is discussed as well as how CCS has impacted some of our students and their families. If you like what you see, please contact our principal, Lisa Tucker, for more information or to schedule a personal visit.
