UE/MS Thanksgiving Feasts 12:00 p.m. in Admin. Lobby (Parents welcome.)
Thank you for visiting the Montessori Academy website! We believe the website is a terrific source of information to help you understand the Montessori method and Montessori Academy. Montessori Academy serves families with children 18 months of age through 8th grade.
Montessori Academy developed lifelong learners before the phrase became popular in educational circles. It is the only school in Middle Tennessee that holds dual accreditation with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and SACS CASI (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement). The rigorous standards set by both accrediting organizations keep the focus on a commitment to academic excellence and continuous improvement.
This unique, diverse community offers an unexpected and astonishing alternative to traditional education in the Middle Tennessee area. We invite you to come, tour, and learn about this caring community of academic excellence as the first step in the admission process. Please contact Ms. Anna Vaughan or Ms. Cathi Boswell to schedule your tour or call 615-833-3610 to schedule a tour today!
Montessori Academy admits students of any race, gender, religion, or ethnic origin to all rights,
privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to any student.
Montessori Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, national origin,
or ethnic origin in administration or educational policies or in any school programs.

Montessori Education as an Intervention for Gifted Students
Did you know..."that as a nation we spend ten times more in the attempt to bring low achieving students to proficiency than we are spending on the highest performing children?"
"Maria Montessori believed that early education was critical and the benefits of such an education were far reaching. Researchers involved in gathering information about gifted children are finding the same to be true."
Montessori education is recognized world-wide for its impact and success with young children. An authentic Montessori program needs very little modification to be appropriate for and to meet the complex needs of a gifted child according to the key elements of educational design identified by the National Association for Gifted Children.Key Montessori concepts include: respect, multi-age classrooms, choice, individual pace, and a prepared environment. The Montessori environment is a natural place for children to thrive and excel by promoting independence and critical thinking. Gifted students are by nature deep thinkers, problem solvers and driven by curiosity and persistence. These are characteristics that are valued, desired, and understood in the Montessori classroom for all children.
Mrs. Lisa Quinn is working on her Master's degree at the Center for Contemporary Montessori Programs at St. Catherine University. In this paper, Mrs. Quinn gathers the best and most recent research about gifted children and shows how a Montessori environment keeps gifted children motivated and achieving.
