Purchase a unique, hand-crafted gift Support a cause you care about!
On Sunday, December 5th, from 9:30 am - 1:30 pm, the Episcopal Bookshop will donate 10% of its sales to the following six not-for-profit agencies:
EPISCOPAL RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT
You choose which of these six will receive 10% of your purchase.
Almost all of the gifts sold at the bookshop are hand-crafted by local artists or by artisans from developing countries around the world. We do business with SERRV International, a fair trade, non-profit organization which has been working for sixty years to eradicate poverty around the world. We also carry Thistle Farms products, made by the women of Magdalene House in Nashville,Tennessee. Your purchase helps all these people support their families and nurtures healthier communities world-wide.
ALSO on this day, the first 25 customers will receive a free copy of Common Prayer, a just released prayer book that invites faith communities from around the world "to pray, sing, and act together." This new prayer book has grown out of a community of communities that is sometimes called a 'new monasticism.' Contributors include well-known authors and speakers: Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, Shane Claiborne, and Phyllis Tickle. In it you will find morning, mid-day, and evening prayers drawn from the best of Christian tradition, woven together with concern for the most pressing issues of our world today. You'll also find songs from various traditions, including African-American spirituals, traditional hymns, Mennonite gathering songs, and Taize chants-- the 'greatest hits' from the church's first 2,000 years. And, there's a calendar to remember our saints and landmark dates in the struggle for peace and justice.
Please come join us in this community event and encourage your friends and neighbors to join you!
