At the center of Belhaven’s liberal arts emphasis is the innovative Worldview Curriculum, which presents history, philosophy, literature, and art as one set of interconnected disciplines.

Through this bold approach to education, students discover the contexts of the Christian worldview and how it relates to other systems of thought throughout history. With it comes the challenge to students to recognize their own worldview and to weigh it against the Christian worldview.

Christian colleges and universities come in all shapes and sizes, but Belhaven College, now Belhaven University, is one of a kind. Each of our Christ-honoring faculty, coaches, and staff is committed to helping you capture God's vision for your life and to preparing you to excel in your career, relationships, home, and the world of ideas.

For traditional age college students, working adults seeking an accelerated schedule, home school juniors or seniors studying in our High Scholars online program, and those want- ing distance learning through online college degrees, we stand out from all other Christian schools. >

Grant Callen ’05 doesn’t leave his faith at the door when he goes to work at the Mississippi Center for Public Policy. As Director of Development, he has the opportunity to impact society every day. He says he appreciates “that Belhaven is committed to equipping students with the knowledge, tools, and experience to impact the secular culture for Christ. My Christian worldview colors everything I do. I think my life calling is to work in the political realm in Mississippi to create a more just society. My biblical worldview not only impacts the way I conduct my career but why I chose this field in the first place.”

Known for his work as lead sculptor for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Andrew has taken his educational foundation and exemplified Belhaven’s ability to produce students who are passionate about excelling in their calling and in their field of work.

Chaplain (LTC) James R. Carter (`83) is serving as a senior command chaplain in Baghdad, Iraq.

“I’m grateful for the foundation that was laid during my four years at Belhaven. I can see how God has used my time there in such a profound way that it has set the trajectory of my world and life view. Belhaven certainly has given me the right tools for handling many of life’s challenges, to include the challenges that I face in combat.”

Author Elizabeth Spencer graduated Belhaven in 1942 and went on to write many novels, short stories, non-fiction, fiction, and drama. She has experienced a lifetime of achievement for her many literary contributions and was recently awarded the PEN/Malamud Award for Short Fiction and Governor's Award for Achievement in Literature from the Mississippi Arts Commission.

As a Biblical Studies graduate, Heather has always had a passion for helping people. Though she always thought she would be a foreign missionary, the Lord placed her in the heart of Jackson to serve the very neediest citizens—the homeless.

As the City of Jackson’s Homeless Program Coordinator, Heather has the monumental task of implementing the city’s 10-year plan to end homelessness. As she looks at her path since college, Heather says, “I love my work— and I have my time at Belhaven to thank for nurturing that call.”

"Several years ago, a friend challenged me to consider Belhaven for its worker- friendly atmosphere and faculty. Belhaven proved to be the right institution for me. While there, I met and socialized with students who actually lived their religion. I was provided the opportunity to mingle with Christians (my study group) who 'talked the talk and walked the walk.' My worldview regarding many issues on which this country finds itself deeply divided changed as a direct result of attending Belhaven."

Question: What do you get with business administration, philosophy, computer science and mathematics degrees from Belhaven College? Answer: One of the fastest growing technology companies in the country.
