Hit Holiday show now playing
Filled with music of the Holiday season, this very funny and touching show recounts a church Christmas pageant that threatens to be “a disaster”, but turns out to reflect the true spirit of Christmas. The show sponsor is Dr. Stewart Galloway and Cumberland Eye Care of Fairfield Glade.
When six delinquent Herdman kids decide to join the church Christmas pageant to enjoy Sunday school desserts and snacks, the event is thrown into turmoil. The Herdmans reputation is as “the worst kids in the entire history of the world”, and their rowdy behavior creates chaos for new pageant director Grace Bradley, and her Sunday schoolers. But even the Herdmans finally understand the spirit of the Christmas story, and help make it “The Best Christmas Pageant, Ever.”
Written by Barbara Robinson, PAGEANT was a short story in McCall’s magazine, then a bestselling book, then a play, and an ABC television movie, with Loretta Swit of MASH. Weslie Webster takes on this role of Grace Bradley, with leading kids’ roles played by Crossville’s Mary Kemp, Ellie Burnett and Olivia Hoyt of Crossville, Logan Malicoat of Kingston, Ransom Prior of Rockwood, Jordan Wright of Jamestown, plus Crossville’s Caroline Daughtery, Brooklyn Kimbro, Emery Smith, Emily Graham, Katie Daley, Allie Crain and Malachi Banegas.
Key roles are performed by Dick Disseler of Pleasant Hill and Skip Ritter of Fairfield Glade as the Pastor, Britt Hancock as dad Bob Bradley, Playhouse resident actor Carol Irvin as bossy Mrs. Armstrong, Terri Ritter, Holly Bynum and Cookeville’s Janice Berry as parish busybodies. Some families have several in the cast, including mom Kim Pryor of Rockwood and sons Ransom and Noah; siblings Lenny and Lindsey Lively of Spring City; mom and daughter, Sherri and Tori Cannon of Cookeville; and mom and son Angie and Brad Sells of Livingston. Forty kids and a dozen volunteer and professional adults comprise the cast, under direction of Jim and Ann Crabtree for staging and music.

Beautiful music, based on the great Gene Kelly film
Lerner and Loewe’s BRIGADOON, sponsored by the “3000 square feet of fun” at Discovery Depot and The Candy Caboose of Cookeville, comes to a close on the Cumberland County Playhouse’s mainstage on November 21
BRIGADOON is a magical Scottish village that appears for one day every hundred years, yet if one from Brigadoon ever leaves, the spell is broken and the village disappears in the mist forever.
Playhouse star and multiple national-tour veteran, Britt Hancock plays American hunter Tommy Albright, who meets new Playhouse brunette beauty Lindy Penzick as Fiona McLaren of Brigadoon, one misty morning in the Scots Highlands. Albright’s hunting buddy, Jeff Douglas, played by resident actor Daniel Black (DUCK HUNTER, SANDERS), with featured guest Greg Pendzick as stunning Celtic tenor Charlie Dalrymple, on whose decision to leave Brigadoon, the musical story turns. Can Tommy and Jeff find their way back home…will they even want to?
BRIGADOON, a Broadway hit and multiple Tony Award Winner, starred Gene Kelly in the famous film. Michele Colvin directs and choreographs, with Ron Murphy leading the infectiously gorgeous music, including standards like ALMOST LIKE BEING IN LOVE, and Celtic beauties like COME TO ME, BEND TO ME.
