Mr. Ed has attended THE WORLD AQUATIC BABIES CONGRESS at the following locations:

Our Award-Winning swim school features swimming lessons for children & adults and water introduction for babies. Our school in Knoxville is the flagship facility for the "Mr. Ed Method" of teaching children and adults to swim.

If you are looking for products and information to use for teaching yourself and preparing others to teach please look on our PRODUCTS page, or our PHOTO GALLERY for demonstrations of the products in use. Also, look on the ACTIVITIES page for coloring pages and other activities for assistance on learning and teaching swimming. If you are desiring to come to our demonstration program in Knoxville, Tennessee, please read the information below.

In Private Professional Lessons all activities are chosen and designed to directly help the personal needs of the student. The progress achieved in Private Professional Lessons is usually equal to five group classes.

Private Professional Lessons can include ALL SKILLS including - but not limited to -- Fearful children, adults, and babies; diving off side and diving board; stroke analysis for competition, triathlon and exercise swimming; swimming for the disabled (handicapped children and adults) lessons are adapted to the student (Mr. Ed was on the faculty at The University of Tennessee as Director of the Adapted Aquatics Swim Program teaching "hands on" - with actual disabled students, how to teach swimming to the handicapped.); snorkeling; SCUBA DIVING (Mr. Ed has certified over 6,000 divers and is certified as a PADI Instructor Course Director); infant water awareness and development where he will teach the parent or parents methods to develop the child's potential physically and emotionally starting at age 3 months using methods he developed and have demonstrated all over the world.

The Standard rate for private lessons is $129 for one student for one 50 minute session. (Parents with Tot count as one student.)

Our system is called the Fast and Fun Swim System. We are highly recommended from previous students and their parents due to the positive changes. Young infants mature as they learn to enjoy the water along with the mom and dad interactions that will form a positive beginning for swimming as well as for life. Parents and infants both enjoy the feelings gained through our Parent/Tot program. Older children gain confidence and self-esteem through the process of learning to swim in such an enjoyable manner. Eighty percent of Adults, who have never had their head under water before, will swim across the pool (25') by the third lesson. Good swimmers appreciate the way they improve their skills and learn why, as well as, how to perform the more complex strokes and skills. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR RESULTS--- THIS IS THE ONLY SWIM SCHOOL TO CONSIDER.

Kids learn swimming better when they're comfortable. Walls and roof are insulated to keep out wind, rain and snow. The pool is 25'x50', has two diving boards, and a depth from 3' to 11'. Pool temperature is 90-93 degrees (no lap swimmers), providing a fun and comfortable environment for children to learn in. We provide bathroom and shower facilities, hair dryers and seven dressing rooms.

Mr. Ed continually observes each student and modifies the skills to best fit the student's needs. Skills are designed and conducted for students to get a good workout and enough rest for maximum performance.

Learning swimming is fast!
Drills and activities designed by Mr. Ed specifically for the child's age and skill level, combined with special teaching equipment, make learning fun, easy and fast. With proper preparation and support from parents, the children are challenged to be all they can become. A graduated University of Tennessee All-American Swimmer stated, "I have never seen children learn to swim so well, so fast". Children feel proud of their accomplishments and are usually excited about coming to class.

Mr. Ed's swim classes are fun!
Mr. Ed plays games and activities designed with achieving swimming confidence and skills. We start with the "Umbrella Game" while the child is sitting on the side of the pool. We then progress to other fun activities -- all designed exclusively by Mr. Ed -- to give the child confidence and to teach skills. We even have a radio playing under water and pictures on the ceiling! Amazed with his son's progress, a father mused, "This is neat!! My son plays in the water and learns to swim!"

Mr. Ed is a Great swimming instructor!!
A State of Tennessee certified teacher, he taught at Farragut Middle Schools for 13 years. With a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine and with additional Ph.D. study in Mechanical Analysis of Motion (all with reference to swimming), he is among the top aquatics professionals in the United States. He directed "Hydro Help-Handicapped Swim," teaching people to teach disabled persons in the water while teaching full time in the Physical Education Department at The University of Tennessee. He also founded the UT Non-Credit Swimming Instructional Classes for Children and Adults and taught them for eight years.

"He knows what to do and how to do it!"
He swam competitively in high school and at Eastern Kentucky State University. He is the instructor in all classes (no different teacher every lesson). A professional teacher, he teaches over 1500 children, babies and adults each year. Most students return for advanced lessons and refer their friends to take lessons with Mr. Ed. Mr. Ed, year after year, is awarded the prestigious award "OUTSTANDING SWIM TEACHER" by the NATIONAL SWIM SCHOOL ASSOCIATION. At the 2000 National Conference, he gave a warmly received lecture entitled: "Teaching Children How To Swim Quickly." He was invited back to talk in the 2001 Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, and again to speak at October 2002 Conference in Monterrey, Mexico. The talk was judged by some to be among the best in the Conference. In 1999 he attended the WORLD AQUATICS BABIES CONGRESS, in Toulouse, France. He attended the WABC Conference held in Argentina in October, 2001. Mr. Ed spoke at the 2003 WABC Conference held in Hawaii. During the winters 1999-2002 Mr. Ed spent 6 weeks in Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan visiting swim schools and attending conferences, searching for even more effective methods of teaching swimming. He also Scuba dived extensively in the South Pacific, including Phuket and Pattaya Thailand, Sipidan Malaysia, Palau and Truk Lagoon in the Federated States of Micronesia and the Maldives; considered by many to be some of the best diving sites in the world. See underwater photos under "Mr. Ed's Profile." Experience, education and caring really helps! During his travels, Mr. Ed has interviewed and observed the teaching of outstanding swim instructors in St. Petersburg, Russia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Bangkok, Thailand; Los Angeles, California, USA, Chelayabinsk, Russia-- just to name a few. Many of these interviews are videotaped and made available to the public.

Parents Can Watch the swim lessons!
There are 11 windows so parents may either sit in the shade outside or sit in chairs on the pool deck to watch the classes. There is an air-conditioned viewing room for your comfort and so a parent may watch class out of sight of the child -- you know why this may be useful. You may, if you choose, leave your child with us in class while you run an errand or two. We welcome parents to see and hear what is going on. We are proud of our classes and like to show what we do. We do request that only one vehicle be brought to our premises. Our parking is limited and we have had problems when Mom, dad, and grandparents bring separate cars and trucks.

Rocky Hill Location
We are easy to get to near the corner of Northshore and Morrell Road and can be reached via Northshore Road, Westland, Nubbins Ridge Road. From the West Hills exit of I-40/ I-75 (West Town Mall) take Morrell Rd (the road between the mall and K Mart) from Kingston Pike, go 1.8 miles, turn West (right) onto Queensbury (you can only turn one way). Go left on Scotsbury Circle. Drive around the circle. We are on the outside of the circle. Look for large mailbox with "Adventure Swim School" painted on. Ample parking is provided for 20 cars in paved lot beside driveway and behind house. The subdivision may also be reached from Nubbins Ridge Road- via Tranquilla. Traveling Westland and Northshore to Morrell are alternate routes taken by many.
